The Directors of Lumen Christi Catholic Media Ltd managers of Lumen Christi TV are mourning one of their benefactors, Mr. Edward Kwasi Kwao, who reportedly died in September 2022.

The late Kwao is the 3rd benefactor of Lumen Christi TV who donated GHS100,000 last year to support the Great Commission of Christ to enable the establishment of the Catholic Television.

Chairman of the Executive Council of the National Implementation Committee of the National Catholic TV Project, Dr. Kenneth Ashigbey, who announced the death, prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul.

“We would honour him by ensuring that the TV project is a great success to the glory of God. Condolences to the family,” he said in a post announcing the death.

A retired Pharmacist and a devoted Catholic from the Konongo-Mampong Diocese,  the late Kwao donated GH₵100, 000 as seed money to support the implementation of the National Catholic TV Project whose Executive Council was officially inaugurated on Monday, June 14, 2021 at the National Catholic Secretariat (NCS) in Accra.

Mr. Kwao who is a Parishioner of the St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Dansoman-Accra said at the presentation ceremony last year that it was in appreciation and thanksgiving to God for two successful different medical surgeries he had abroad.

According to the late Mr. Kwao at last year’s presentation, he had to respond to the silent voice of God to support this initiative by the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference after his personal prayerful experience during his devotion on a Canadian TV Network, adding, “I was convinced Ghana could have the same thing.”

The late Kwao’s donation was received by the Most Rev. Philip Naameh, the President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference and Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Tamale, who thanked him for his kind gesture and love for the Catholic Church, saying, “when we formed the Committee to work we had no idea where the seed money was going to come from but the kind gesture from Mr. Kwao and other well-meaning Catholic have demonstrated their true love for the Church.
